Caffeine Consumption' Can Drive Female Infertility!

Caffeine Consumption' Can Drive Female Infertility!
Caffeine Consumption' Can Drive Female Infertility! :

Caffeine reduces muscle activity in the fallopian tubes that carry eggs from a woman’s ovaries to her womb, which can reduce a woman’s chance of becoming pregnant. “This finding goes a long way towards explaining why drinking caffeinated drinks can reduce a woman’s chance of becoming pregnant,” says Sean Ward, who led the study.

Ward is professor of physiology and cell biology at the University of Nevada School of Medicine who conducted these experiments on mice. Human eggs are microscopically small, but need to travel to a woman’s womb if she is going to have a successful pregnancy, according to a Nevada statement.

Although the process is essential for a successful pregnancy, scientists know little about how eggs move through the muscular Fallopian tubes, reports the British Journal of Pharmacology. It was generally assumed that tiny hair-like projections, called cilia, in the lining of the tubes, waft eggs along assisted by muscle contractions in the tube walls.

By studying tubes from mice, Ward and his team discovered that caffeine stops the actions of specialised cells in the wall of the tubes. These cells coordinate tube contractions so that when they are inhibited, eggs can’t move down the tubes. In fact, these muscle contractions play a bigger role than the beating cilia in moving the egg towards the womb.

“This provides an intriguing explanation as to why women with high caffeine consumption often take longer to conceive than women who do not consume caffeine,” said Ward. “As well as potentially helping women who are finding it difficult to get pregnant, a better understanding of the way Fallopian tubes work will help doctors treat pelvic inflammation and sexually-transmitted disease more successfully,” said Ward.(IANS) via

Happy people' go for Candies

Happy people are more likely to eat candy bars and hopeful ones choose fruit. "Most of us are aware that we often fall victim to emotional eating, but how is it that we might choose unhealthy or healthy snacks when we're feeling good?" write authors Karen Page Winterich of Pennsylvania State University and Kelly L. Haws of Texas A&M University.

They focused on the complicated relationship between positive emotions and food consumption, the Journal of Consumer Research reports. To understand why someone would be more likely to choose a candy bar versus a piece of fruit, study authors teased out the difference between positive feelings that arise from thinking about the past or the present (pride and happiness) and hope, a more future-oriented emotion.

In the authors' first study, hopeful participants consumed fewer M&Ms (specialty frozen foods) than people who experienced happiness, according to a Penn State statement. In a second study, they found that consumers who were more focused on the past chose unhealthy snacks even if they felt hope.

In the third study, the researchers shifted the time frame of the positive emotion - having participants feel hopeful about the past or having them experience pride in the future. "That is, if someone is anticipating feeling proud, she prefers fewer unhealthy snacks than someone experiencing pride."

Finally, the authors compared future-focused positive emotions (hopefulness, anticipated pride) to future focused negative emotions (fear, anticipated shame). They found that the combination of positivity and future focus enhanced self-control. "So the next time you're feeling well, don't focus too much on all the good things in the past. Instead, keep that positive glow and focus on your future, especially all the good things you imagine to come. Your waistline will thank you!" the authors conclude.(IANS)

You Really Can Make Mr. P Longer!

You Really Can Make Mr. P Longer : Some non-surgical methods for increasing the length of the male sex organ do work, while others are likely to result only in soreness and disappointment, a review of medical literature has shown.

Surgical procedures, however, could be dangerous and had an "unacceptably high rate of complications," according to the study, published this week in the Journal of the British Association of Urological Surgeons.

Researchers say you can make it bigger using natural processes, but the regimen for achieving these gains is arduous
"An increasing number of patients seek urological advice for the so-called 'short penis'," the researchers reported.

This is true despite the fact that "penile length is normal in most of these men, who tend to overestimate normal phallic dimension".

A male member - measured on the upper side - can be considered normal in length if it is at least four centimetres when limp, and 7.5 centimetres when rigid, noted several of the studies evaluated.

Some allowances, they added, must be made for a man's height and his body-mass index (BMI), which measured deviation from optimal levels of body fat.

To determine the efficacy and safety of surgical and non-surgical techniques for so-called "male enhancement", Marco Orderda and Paolo Gontero of the University of Turin in Italy canvassed scientific literature.

They found 10 relevant studies. Half reported on surgical techniques, performed on 121 men.

Among the non-invasive methods, tested on 109 subjects, so-called penile extenders which stretched the phallus through traction were shown to be most effective.

One study reported an average increase of 1.8 centimetres, while another measured an extra 2.3 centimetres in a flaccid state, and 1.7 centimetres when erect.

But the regimen for achieving these gains was arduous: six hours of daily traction over four months in the first case, and four hours every day over six months in the second.

Another device, known as a "penis pump," used a manual or motorised pump to create a vacuum inside a hard cylinder sheath, stretching the phallus.

Six months of treatment, however, "was not found to be effective for penile elongation, although it provided some sort of psychological satisfaction for some men", the researchers said.

So-called peno-scrotal rings - expandable or rigid bands which fitted around the base of the scrotum and penis - "might help to augment penile size and maintain erections in men suffering from anxiety", they reported, but only two cases were evaluated.

Advertisements claiming another popular technique - so-called "penile lengthening exercises" - could add centimetres to one's manhood were unfounded, say Oderda and Gontero.

Even the methods that did show some increase in length did not result in a gain in thickness, they noted, but nor was there shrinkage.

"It is interesting that no girth decrease was reported with traction therapy, as one would have instinctively thought," the researchers said.(AFP/Kompas.com) Tags: Anda Pasti Bisa Bikin Penis Panjang
