The Powertrain
The zero emission car is propelled by a 40bhp electric motor mounted on the rear wheel. Adding more to the drama are the car’s fancy windscreen and different interiors plus the ability to reach a speed of 37mph in 5.5 seconds. With a tendency to push up to 75mph, it’s a bit baffling why Smart picked the name Forspeed for this cutie as it’s anything but speedy. Adding another 7 hp, in case you are in a hurry, is a button just a push away.
When fully charged, the Smart has a range of 84 miles, and a tendency to charge 80% in just 45 minutes. The tiny new model also has a concealed plug-in socket placed below the smart badge on the rear to rev up the lithium-iron battery. Going a step ahead are its solar cells in the base of the windscreen.
